Australia has been the breeding ground for high-quality Shorthorn cattle since the early 1800s.
Australian Shorthorns is the official administrator of the Australian and Beef Shorthorn herd books. Copies of these herd books are available through the Marketplace section of our site.
The history of recording Shorthorn stud breeding dates back to the Port Phillip Farmers Society in Victoria, formed in 1848. It was the forerunner of the National Agricultural Society of Victoria and subsequently the Royal Agricultural Society Victoria.
Contact the Federal Secretary of Australian Shorthorns or any of the Society-accredited stud breeders for more information.
