Mr Peter Falls, President has made the following announcement to members via the following correspondence with regard to the new trading name.

10  January 2024

Dear

For over 100 years, the Beef Shorthorn Society of Australia has been the country’s preeminent Shorthorn breed organisation.

We are proud to represent a breed that has benefited from centuries of development, innovation and adaptation.  As a Society, we too must develop, innovate and adapt in order to best represent you – our breeders – and continue to improve the breed into the future.

As such, from January 22 onwards, the Society will operate under its registered business name Australian Shorthorns.

Much of what you expect from us will not change. We remain the official administrator of the Australian and Beef Shorthorn herd books.  And we will keep being the most cost-effective path to Thousand Guineas Certification.

We will continue to help you access innovative technology and tools. We have been proud to announce in recent times that we have entered into contracts with ABRI for the provision of Online Services to members and other cattle breeders and with Weatherbys Scientific Australia for the provision of genotyping solutions to our members.

But with these kinds of exciting new developments, some things do need to change. Our website has a new home – australianshorthorns.au – and we have updated the way we present ourselves to the world:

From January 22 onwards, all secretarial and administration communications will be via office@australianshorthorns.au

All communications regarding membership fees and other money matters will be via treasurer@australianshorthorns.au

Our mailing address continues to be PO Box 199, Rutherglen Vic 3685

Please update your records accordingly, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about these important developments. I am incredibly proud to represent you at a time of such exciting change.

Yours sincerely,

Peter WT Falls, President
